We are fortunate to have several beautiful birth centers, not attached to a hospital, in the Driftless region. While, it is not homebirth, this class will be helpful in preparing for birth outside of the hospital. Homebirth and birth center birth is a very different birthing experience than the hospital. There is more preparation in regards to supplies, expectations, and coping in labor without the use of pain medication. It is a beautiful way to bring your baby into this world. We talk about when to use certain comfort measures, what to do if labor is longer than expected, how to deal with a malpositioned baby, and how your labor team can support your goals. Whoever will be attending your birth is invited to come learn how they can support you during labor. This is a great class for subsequent births if you did not feel prepared during your first birth.
